Humanity is busy building rockets and dreaming about distant planets—but what if the universe flips the script and the visitors arrive here first? This project explores that idea through a series of sketches I created while visiting China.
Set against the backdrop of traditional Huizhou architecture (徽派建筑) and the modern skyline of Shanghai, these illustrations imagine aliens dropping in not to conquer, but to hang out, build bases, and maybe even throw a party. It’s a playful collision of cultures: ancient Chinese aesthetics meeting curious extraterrestrial travelers.
The core question behind the work is simple but provocative:
If aliens show up before we reach them, can we get along?
My sketches lean toward optimism—strange visitors, familiar streets, and the possibility of coexistence.
